JOE ALVAYERO

Joe earned a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine after completing my undergraduate degree at State University of New York at Buffalo as a double major in Psychology and Sociology. He provides counseling services and mental health skills to people of all ages and backgrounds. He also specializes in Sports Psychology and is a designated provider for the Philadelphia Eagles. His clinical work utilizes the Eco-Systemic Family Therapy Model, an evidenced based treatment, to help families, couples, and individuals successfully reach treatment goals.

A common thread across his experience has been working with the specialized needs of children, teens and adults whose day to day lives are impacted by symptoms of anxiety and depression, loss of anger control, a traumatic or stressful event, grief and loss, attention deficit/hyperactivity, and/or overwhelming stress. His unique and humanistic approach empowers the client to identify and capitalize on their strengths to overcome challenges and reach personal goals.

Katie enjoys working with teens, adults, couples, and families who are facing challenging transitions, struggling to find balance in their lives, feel overwhelmed by relationship conflicts, or striving to improve social skills in complex and demanding environments such as school and work. She has over 13 years of extensive experience in the field of child, adolescent and family therapy, as well as clinical supervision and licensure supervision. Her style is warm and collaborative, and she strives to create an environment where you feel free to express your thoughts and feelings in an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard and safety.

She has a specialization in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disorders, and trauma. She takes evidence-based treatment approaches, such as: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered and Strength-Based counseling.

 

She has a passion for helping people connect to their inner voice, learn how to build the protective factors in their life, leverage their strengths to overcome challenges, and to find a sense of belonging in the world.
